EV report on Carpass in 2026: what will change and which tools can create it for free

The electrification of the vehicle fleet is accelerating, and starting in 2026 there will be an important update within the Carpass: the EV report. This report compiles crucial battery information and becomes a fixture with every used electric vehicle. The goal is simple: more transparency for anyone buying or selling an EV.

Workshops and dealers need to prepare in a timely manner. Fortunately, there are diagnostic tools on the market that provide the EV report completely free can generate - without additional licenses or subscriptions. You provide these tools, but they are not your property.

What does the EV report say

The EV report contains a series of battery parameters that provide insight into the actual condition of an electric vehicle. Consider:

    • State of Health (SOH)

    • State of Charge (SOC)

    • Number of charging cycles

    • Temperature values of the battery pack

    • Any error codes within the high-voltage system

Of all these values SOH by far the most important. Below you can read why.

Why the SOH is so important

In an electric vehicle, the battery replaces the role of the engine in traditional vehicles. The value, reliability and performance of an EV are directly related to the health of that battery pack.

SOH indicates how much of the original battery capacity is still effectively usable.
So an SOH of 90 percent means that the battery still has 90 percent of its original capacity. So if before you could drive 600km on a fully charged battery it is now only 540km.

The reasons why SOH is crucial:

    1. It determines the realistic range
Even when the on-board computer shows a certain driving range, only the SOH tells how much capacity is really still available. A low SOH means less range, which directly affects the value of the vehicle.

    2. It is an objective indicator of wear
Batteries wear out from aging, many charge cycles, fast charging, heat and driving behavior. SOH is a direct measurement of that wear and thus provides an honest picture.

    3. No visual or audible signals
A deteriorating battery makes no noise and shows nothing. Without SOH measurements, wear remains invisible. This makes the EV report indispensable for transparent trading.

    4. Direct effect on cost and warranty
Many manufacturers tie battery warranties to SOH thresholds (e.g., up to 70 percent). Buyers want to know how far a vehicle is from that threshold.

    5. Reliable basis for valuation
With internal combustion engines, maintenance and odometer are considered. With EVs, the SOH is the equivalent: the indicator that determines true value.

So SOH is not just a technical number, but an essential element to correctly buy, sell or estimate an EV.

Diagnostic tools that generate the EV report for free

There are several professional diagnostic tools that can create the EV report at no additional cost. The most well-known models that fully support this functionality are:

    • MS909 EV

    • MSULTRA EV

    • MS909 S2 + EV module

    • MSULTRA S2 + EV module

These devices read the data directly from the battery management system and automatically convert it into a Carpass-compatible report. The report itself is completely free for these tools. These tools are therefore available from us!

Why these tools are becoming increasingly important

EV diagnosis requires a different approach than traditional vehicles. Battery status, thermal management and high-voltage safety play a greater role. Tools that generate the EV report for free are thus a valuable addition for:

    • Objective valuation for buying and selling

    • Clear communication towards customers

    • Fast battery diagnosis without expensive additional software

    • Smooth transition to Carpass obligations in 2026

    Looking ahead to 2026

The introduction of the EV report is a logical step within a rapidly growing EV market. Those already working with tools that are ready for this report will soon have an edge. It offers customers confidence and ensures that every EV transaction is based on measurable and reliable battery data.
